Public Image Ltd. is embarking on a headlining US tour. Like that’s supposed to mean something. You’re a band that has been in existence for 20 something years, if you’re not the main act then don’t tour. Anyway, fuck the Sex Pistols, and fuck PiL. So everyone name checks the latter’s song “Careering,” but the part they leave out is that it’s incredibly annoying. Not in the way John Lydon thinks it is, like, “oh, I’m abrasive, how transgressive! How punk!” Not really dude. Just because it sucks doesn’t mean it’s punk, sorry. Plus, you don’t get a high five for being into reggae. Anyway, I will give them credit for Jah Wobble having once played bass in the band. That’s pretty awesome, as is the track in the video posted below of a little-known track he did with half of Can. So, the current PiL bassist can brag that he’s worked with the following artists: Steve Winwood, John Martyn, Elvis Costello and The Spice Girls. THE SPICE GIRLS. Are you fucking kidding me? John Lydon has always been a joke, a pompous ass, and someone cashing in on other people’s ideas. It’s an obvious closing to this write-up, but it’s really fucking unavoidable: “ever get the feeling you’re being cheated?”
