BLOOD CULT: A NEW FORM OF MIDWEST REDNECK BLACK METAL

The MidWest’s own Blood Cult is an unlikely combination of genres: redneck rock and black metal. Then when you think about Darkthrone’s legacy, etc, it doesn’t seem so weird as just an awkward idea. They’re releasing We are the Culk of the Plains on Moribund Records March 2nd.  Shockingly, it fucking rules. It’s some beautiful blend of bar-rock Thin Lizzy riffs, even some NEU! influence and, sorta, black metal. Everything about this sounds like it shouldn’t make sense, but it does. It makes perfect sense. Kinda like The Flight of the Sleipnir? Make sure to check out “Devil’s Sabbath” on their Myspace account.

Check it out HERE, then buy it March 2nd, 2010.
