So VICE found the only metal band in Iraq, made documentary about the band and got them to the states. Commendable? Totally. The documentary is definitely one of the cooler things the brand has done, it really sucks you into these guys lives and the shitstorm our great nation has caused over there. Yet after a long time of not hearing from Acrassicauda, the question remained, how are they now that they can actually be a band? I got your answer, fuckin sick.
Their first studio song entitled Garden of Stones blends Slayer-like chugging grooves, melodic vocals and traditional Iraqi music to form a powerful jam that culminates with a Roots-era Sepultura meets Iraq mindfuck. The dudes were helped out by Alex Skolnick of Testament in the production process, while Josh Wilbur (Lamb Of God, Hatebreed, System Of A Down) mixed Garden of Stones for their first EP, Only The Dead See The End Of The War. Their story should compel many a metalhead to check these dudes out, but their music is gonna make you stoked you did.
